Defender-CCW is the slim everyday-carry model, Defender-ST is designed as a versatile option for handguns, shotguns, and offset carbine use, and Defender-XL provides a larger sight window for competition and fast follow-up shots.
Across the family, Vortex uses hard-coated lenses, motion activation with automatic shutoff, ShockShield polymer inserts, and Fast-Rack texturing. Mounting compatibility is an important difference: Defender-CCW uses the Shield RMS footprint, while Defender-ST and Defender-XL use the DeltaPoint Pro footprint. Dot size and window size should then be matched to carry, duty, or competition priorities.
